Jan's Journal

As promised here is the photo my friend Jan sent me of her completed book.  Check out these awesome pages.  She made the pages herself and they are watercolour paper decorated and stamped.  She arrived at class with these made so after choosing her kit, I think she found herself the challenge of adding some yellow into her cover.  Of course she managed to do that easily enough and her cover looks fantastic.   I also must add that this was completed in two days!

A Winter Soup - Just For You!

Yesterday I posted the above card  to my mother.
My stepfather has just had major surgery and  the day he got out of hospital he tried this yummy soup.  It was a winner, so here is the recipe for you!
It really tastes divine - especially after sport on a cold winters day!
Quick and easy to make as well!
Enjoy!

Stitched Brooch

A Brooch is:  A relatively large decorative pin or clasp!

So update time:-  I have had my class at Annie's and yes it went very well.  Two of the ladies had almost completed their compendiums at the end of day two.  I know that one went home and finished hers that night.  What a great effort for a weekend and I guess it shows what we can achieve if we have time and put our minds to it.  I have been sent a photo of one of these finished, however I am having trouble getting it uploaded to here.  So instead today I thought I would show you the above brooch.  I wore it whilst teaching on the Sunday and it sparked a lot of interest.  I am very lucky to have such a creative Mum, who prolifically stitches up lots of little goodies!

What You Do For One, You Do For All!

I have always lived by this philosophy when it comes to my children.

HOWEVER - sometimes it takes a while to get stuff done.  (think I may go on about that quite a bit!)

Anyway my youngest (ten year old son) decided to ask me if I would make him a soft toy.  This was because in his words "the others got a toy that you made especially for them".  My daughter probably got too many handmade dolls and the older brother did get the above monkey!

So of course I felt slightly guilty, although I did think he went about this in a very clever way!

Anyway we looked at different patterns and he choose the lion by Melly & Me.

Here he is made 4 months later...

Unfortunately he is not quite finished as he is waiting for his overalls!
Rome was not built in a day!

Finally Finished!

This dressing table runner has been on my to-do list for months.  Finally I put the time aside and spent most of Saturday getting it finished. It is a relief to have it done.  I was asked to make it for a relation.  I'm sure she must think it is never coming.  Will get it in the post shortly and hopefully it fits the dresser and the colours work in the room!

Heading off this weekend and so ...

Fabric & threads with journal pages above.

... i spent last weekend preparing for the class at Annie's Country Quilt Store.  This involved adding the finishing touches to the next batch of Medieval kits.  (If you are new to this blog you may have to read back a few emails to see what the class is about) or check out the link below: -

As you can see there are plenty of colour choices available so hopefully there will be something for everyone.  A good childhood school friend of mine will be there and I know she is hoping to get a nice crimson coloured pack.  She herself is very creative and I believe she has been making her own extra pages to add to her book.   I can't wait to see what she has done.  Above is a picture of the packs.   Which one would you choose?

Oh gosh, the courier has just been, and delivered back my cushion that I stitched for a small exhibition back in March.   I think I may have promised you all a photo: -

F.Y.I

Below is the link for a blog you may like to check out.

Karen has just finished off a medieval journal.  She has done really well considering she only had my written instructions to follow.  She has posted some pictures of her journal so if you scroll through her blog you will be able to see how she got on!

Latest Greek Postcard

After having had a few weeks of computer problems I am finally re-sorted and back on-line.  I guess it would be fare to say that I didn't waste as much time on the Internet.  Instead I spent a few days during the holidays making another sample of the postcards. This one is more padded and offers more texture  (always hard to see in a photo).

Sometimes I just simply want to stitch!
