Kit time again!

Busy spending a few days making kits to take to Nelson where I have a two day class coming up teaching the Greek Postcards and Envelopes.  Goodness kit making sure sucks up a lot of time, but I have to say they are really looking good.  I am really looking forward to seeing the ladies make them up!

Great to have such warm weather again this week!

Goodness, it seems I haven't been here for a while so I am going to try and make up for it, with a long post now.

Thankfully the weather has calmed down a bit,  the wind is still bitterly cold but  the snow has stopped, the rain has arrived and it is all disappearing.  It really was a Polar Blast!
Anyway this gave me some extra inside time and I got productive and had a play with a few things. After a couple of batches of biscuits and a saltana cake I set to and started a bit of patchwork using fabrics that I have had in my stash for a long while. I randomly picked a pattern and ripped into it!

The Pattern

My Version

So I managed to get three of these blocks made yesterday and followed up with two more today.  Not sure about the spot you can see in the background but maybe I will use it for sashing.

I have been planing on tackling a little crewel work, as I purchased this great book a few months ago.  Saturday was my chance once my youngest son finished Rugby.  I got cracking and experimented, trying a new stitch called "Raised Stem Band Stitch".  I rather like it!  The wool is so nice to work with.

My blues is finished and I finally got around to taking a picture.  I also have some leftover bits and think I will add a brooch to complement the hat (it is decorative only, you wont see me running around town wearing it).

Extra Bits.
I have also finished off another sample of the Medieval Compendium.  I stamped the silk background this time instead of the batik as I felt it was busy enough.  Unfortunately this photo is not quite true to colour, as the beads have come out the wrong shade.

So there we have it.  Apparantly more bad weather is on the way.  I will leave tonight with a photo of my little flowers sitting in the snow.  Take care everyone.
